MAD DOG BOWL

Situated in the old Astoria cinema on the Old Kent Road near the elephant & castle the Mad Dog Bowl was a strange place to say the least .It had a Killer pool which was its main feature, the deepest tightest halfpipe ,a good set of moguls ,a snake run and a freestyle area it might all sound standard enough 70's skatepark but the decor was pure 1930 Opera house with a balcony and corniced ceilings and lots of maroon wallpaper even the odd spring sticking through the concrete where the velvet seats had been removed. The seats where still in place upstairs and came in handy as it got a big crowd when Tony Alva made a flying visit .

nearly all photos published are of the pool which was truly awesome
so if you have any others please e-mail them

However, the skateboard craze soon ended, as did 'The Mad Dog Bowl'. The squash court venture soon followed.
